Abstract på svenska:

Bakgrund: Vid en förlossning upplever kvinnan oftast svår eller extrem smärta. På senare år har efterfrågan på alternativ till traditionella smärtlindringsmetoder ökat och akupunktur har visat sig kunna ge både smärtlindring och avslappning. Syfte: Att belysa erfarenheter och upplevelser av akupunktur vid förlossningssmärta. Metod: En litteraturstudie genomfördes genom granskning och analys av åtta vetenskapliga artiklar. Resultat: Analysen resulterade i fyra kategorier: Erfarenheter av smärtlindring, erfarenheter av avslappning, minskat behov av traditionell smärtlindring och akupunkturens inverkan vid förlossningens samtliga skeden. Konklusion: Akupunktur vid förlossningssmärta kan ha en smärtstillande och avslappnande effekt och kan även minska användandet av traditionella smärtlindringsmetoder. Efterfrågan på alternativ till traditionella smärtlindringsmetoder har ökat och det finns behov av mer forskning inom området.

Abstract in english:

Background: During childbirth the woman often experience pain that is severe or extreme. In later years, the demands for alternative analgesic methods has grown larger, and acupuncture has proved to be effective as relaxation and pain relief method. Aim: To illuminate experiences of acupuncture during labour pain.

Methods: The study was carried out through a literature search. Overall, the study included eight articles, which were reviewed and analysed. Results: The analysis resulted in four categories: Experiences of pain relief, experiences of relaxation, a reduced need for traditional pain relief, and acupuncture’s effect on the total outcome of the delivery. Conclusion: Acupuncture during labour pain can be effective as a relaxation and pain relieving method, and it can also reduce the need for traditional pain relief. The demands for alterative analgesic methods have increased and there is a need for more research.
