Learning with the relationship as a tool : from a student perspective in upper secondary school for students with intellectual disabilities (English)
Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to elucidate how some students with intellectual disabilities in the upper secondary school's national program experience and describe the importance of relationships with teaching teachers for their own learning. The study consists of five qualitative, semi-structured interviews conducted with students in different national programs at a secondary school. The results of the study show that the students consider that the relationship with teaching teachers is important for their own learning process, but perhaps even more important for mental well-being. Through a good relationship with their teacher, security and confidence are created, which the students value highly. The conversation is in focus when the students describe what is important in the relationship with their teacher, being able to talk about positive as well as negative things and that the teacher listening is something that is emphasized by the students.
