Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

The background to the study is an interest in the ambiguity of the understanding of the special educator's role as a qualified tutorial leader. Since it does not specify what a qualified tutorial leader means, it leads to many different interpretations. Guidance as a concept can also account for several different interpretations and designs. The purpose of the study is to find out how special educational guidance translates into practice and vision among active teachers and special educators. The method of qualitative interviews with open questions in a question guide with educators and special educators working in preschool or elementary school was used to find out how to understand the special educator's counselling assignment and how the guidance would be designed to work optimally. The results show that the special educators and the teachers interviewed have similar views about it being beneficial with a deeper, regular and recurring tutorial. None of the target groups see these factors in process at the time of the interview and all reflect about time being pressing. The special educators consider that the time of the teachers is not sufficient, while several educators believe that the time is short, but that one could solve it organizationally if one was helped between the teams and if the supervisory assignment was interpreted with the right priorities.
