Stakeholder influence on brand identity co-creation in startups2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this thesis was exploring stakeholder influence on brand identity co-creation in startups, by answering the research question: "How do stakeholders influence brand identity co-creation in startups?". To answer this question, a multiple case study was conducted, consisting of interviews with six B2C (business-to-customer) startups. Furthermore, the startups studied are all tenants of incubators. This context is of interest, since incubators have been suggested to provide extensive resources and knowledge for startups struggling with their businesses' establishment. To analyze the data from the case studies, mainly the Corporate Brand Identity Matrix (Urde, 2013) was used, which helps to provide an overview of how different elements of brand identity are co-created with stakeholders in startups. In addition, to study this subject requires an overview and discussion of brand management research, stakeholder theory and co-creation litertature.

The findings show that several of the brand identity elements are co-created with stakeholders in startups. The stakeholders identified in co-creation are several, mainly cusomers, financiers, producers, designers and programmers. Furthermore, an interesting correlation between startups' orientations and co-creation, was discovered. The startups with a mainly market-oriented approach to branding are co-creating the brand identity elements to a much further extent, than brand-oriented startups. Finally, incubators are revealed as co-creators of several of the brand identity elements in startups, but the study also provides further insightsd into their important role in supporting the startups and facilitating networking opportunities.

Improve Improper Load Distribution with Backpack2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 180 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This article focuses on the distribution of backpack pressure on human body. We have noticed two interesting situations: whether the length of different backpack shoulder straps will change the pressure distribution of the backpack on the human body and whether different positions of the backpack load will change the pressure distribution of the backpack on the human body. To find the answer, we designed a backpack pressure detection system to collect data and use engineering software to analyse the data.We got the range that best fits the human body and the healthiest backpack: when the distance from the top of the backpack to the shoulder is about 1/5 of the length of the shoulder and the weight of the backpack is at the bottom of the backpack. At this time, the force of the three parts of the human body (shoulders, back) is the most uniform and relatively minimal. If the user wants to minimize the pressure on the shoulder, the shoulder strap of the backpack should be as short as possible. If the user only wants the pressure on the back to be minimal, the weight in the backpack is closer to the back, which is better for the back.

Vad upplever unga vuxna påverkar deras sömnvanor: En kvalitativ intervjubaserad studie2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The body needs sleep to get the recovery that it’s need. Too little sleep or no sleep at all may lead to depression and anxiety. The study’s purpose was to investigate how young adults experience their sleeping habits and what they consider affect their sleep. The method used was a qualitative interview study, the form of the interviews was semi-structured interviews and interviews by e-mail. The study’s result shows that young adults experience of sleep could be divided into two categories; the absence of the good sleep and experience of factors that affect the sleep. The informants experienced their sleeping habits as varying and that they had a regular bedtime but a varying sleep onset time. Young adults experienced that their sleep was affected positively by physical activity and negatively by cellphone as well as stress and anxiety Conclusion: Young adult get limited knowledge about sleep and why sleep is important in primary school which lead to that they don’t get the necessary knowledge about which consequences are related to too little and/or poor sleep. Giving sleep education in school gives the students the opportunity to prioritize their sleep. From a public health perspective, sleep is a determining factor to god health which makes the sleep education relevant to schools to work with health promotion activities.

Samhällskunskapsämnets paideia i det senmoderna samhället: en hermeneutisk analys kring ämnets innebörd, undervisning och gymnasielevers perspektiv rörande sina samhällskunskapslärare2018Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Converging and diverging pressures in PBB development: the experiences of Finland and Sweden2018In: Public Management Review, ISSN 1471-9037, E-ISSN 1471-9045, Vol. 20, no 12, p. 1836-1857Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

This paper aims to provide institutional explanations for the development of performance-based budgeting (PBB). Particularly, we explore the tensions between converging and diverging pressures. By analysing PBB in two countries with significant experience with it, Finland and Sweden, the research explains why we observe only evolutionary changes in actual budgetary practices. Indeed, the introduction of this practice is part of a global reform process undertaken over decades by public sector organizations. Nevertheless, the countries still struggle with PBB and, despite global converging pressures, diverging pressures shape its development, challenging its implementation and use, and paving the way for evolutionary changes.

Security Theater i digitala applikationer: En illusion för att förstärka känslan av säkerhet2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Computer power and speed have increased exponentially in recent years, but our expectations and mental models of what computer systems are capable of have not kept up. In cases where people do not believe that the system can perform the requested task as quickly as they do, an artificial wait can be applied to closer match the reality. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether security theater works in the context of banking applications and what happens with the users trust if the illusion of security fails. Through this paper we have found that security theater is a phenomenon that works and adds value to the user. However, the context in question must be carefully evaluated, as security theater in the wrong context can be seen as a disturbing element. We came to the conclusion that the majority of our test subjects are not negatively affected, and instead sees the value in security theater even after the illusion have been revealed.

En restaurangs uppgång eller fall: En komparativ studie mellan anonyma och offentliga matrecensioner och dess inverkan på restauranger2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The aim of this study was to examine the grammatical and linguistic differences between anonymous and public food critics and to study how restaurant reviews affect restaurant owners. The three questions that have examined the aim was: How does the language differ in the anonymous reviews in comparison to the public and is the language in a review affected by the anonymity? How is a review perceived by a restaurant owner and does it matter if the review is written by an anonymous or public critic? How does the language differ depending on if the review is positive or negative?

The study has used a quantitative method where text analysis as a tool for the examination was chosen. The analyses have been conducted on 60 reviews in total, written by three anonymous critics and three public critics.

The second aim was to investigate what influence food reviews have on restaurants. This part of the study was qualitative where interviews have been conducted with two restaurant owners.

The outcome of this study shows that there were linguistical differences between anonymous and public food critics reviews. It also demonstrated in its qualitative section that food reviews have major impact on restaurants. Consequently, restaurants are greatly affected by reviews published regarding their restaurants. The conclusion of the study was that restaurant reviews differentiate between anonymous and public writers and that restaurants are affected by both negative and positive reviews. This opens a debate regarding the culture about having anonymous critics in Sweden.

Diffusa rum i stadslandskapet: En fallstudie i Tomelilla tätort2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The essay deals with diffuse spaces in Tomelilla town center. Diffuse spaces are found everywhere as enclaves between buildings or in the well-defined urban landscape. They are usually located in areas that have been over after planning projects or in empty spaces andwithout a specific function. Our background study is based on previous studies on the subject that have shown that diffuse spaces have a variety of values. The values depend on the way people want to mark these diffuse spaces in the city that give us different definitions such as self-organization, spontaneity, creativity or just a simple and temporary use. Diffuse spaces are usually associated with negative social activities and are in contrast to many public spaces that contain rules and controls. On the other hand, diffuse spaces are open to different types of social groups without rules, limitations and can serve as an alternative to public space. Observations have been performed in Tomelilla town center where the observations help us understand the values diffuse rooms have for the residents. Generally speaking during sex-day observations, two in January, two in March and another two days in April, we discovered that communication and recreation values are the dominant values for these diffuse spaces. Also that these diffuse rooms firstly are used as passages in different ways.

    Abstract [sv]

"Man ger mer än vad man tar": En kvalitativ intervjustudie om medberoende i nära relationer2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Previous studies have shown that in every drug addicted person’s life there is about five relatives which risks developing co-dependency. Therefore, the riskfactors affect the relative’s mental health and increase the risk of developing other illnesses such as depression, anxiety and emotional issues. The aim of the study was to investigate how co-dependency in close relationships can develop self-destructive behavior and mental illness. With the use of a qualitative method and interviews as a data collecting method, the aim for this study became fulfilled. The study was based on semi-structured interviews, performed by six participants. The results showed similar outcomes for all interviews, such as the prevalence for mental illness, self-destructive behaviour and the importance of introjective identification. These three categories complement each other in the order written. The results indicates that a co-dependent individual could not, without the phenomenon introjective identification and self-destructive behaviour acquire mental illness. However in order to acquire some kind of mental illness the co-dependent person would have to develop self-destructive behaviour, and the results showed that it is not possible without introjective identification in the context of a close relationship. Although, with the use of attachment theory and coping-strategy, the conclusion showed that not every co-dependent developed mental illness. The prevalence of illnesses was affected by the individuals early life attachment-pattern and coping skills. The study led to a conclusion that mental illness is a big issue among co-dependent individuals. Co-dependency is not a determined as a disease, despite the risk of possibly developing mental illness. It is still not a prioritization among public health authorities.

    Abstract [en]

How do social science teachers handle controversial political issues in their teaching and how are those difficulties affecting their ways of teaching? What kind of role does the teacher adapt into while entering the classroom and what does teachers in general think of the fostering assignment that has been given to them? This study investigates what approach six social science teachers in the municipality of Helsingborg think of controversial policy issues in the classroom. The method of this study is based on a qualitative study where observations and interviews are the main sources to the following investigation in the problematic area. Several different components have been used to analyse the results of our collected empirical data. The conclusion is that teachers handle controversial political issues in their teaching situations in different ways. Difficulties mainly arises within situations where student are encouraged to unreservedly express themselves without violating anyone or when controversial issues are dealt in ways that students experiences as offensive. The survey contains examples of different roles and approaches and the effects after dealing with controversial issues. A conclusion of the survey is that there is no consensus on how the teacher should act. In assumption, the survey suggests, despite the fact that controversial political issues are often considered as a complex area in educational contexts, they are not to be avoided. This is because it is a contributing factor in the students developing process of becoming understanding and good citizens in our society.

...Do you? #MeToo!: A study on consumer behavior towards sexual appeal in advertising after the worldwide #MeToo-uprising2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this thesis is to explore how stakeholders’ view of sexual advertisement has been affected by the ‘#MeToo’-uprising and Time’s Up movement. A qualitative study has been conducted in order to gather information regarding stakeholders view of sexual appeal in advertising and how they have been affected by these movements. In this study, participants have been giving their thoughts and beliefs on this subject, which later on have been compared and analyzed in relation with existing theories. The findings of this study indicates an increased resistance to sexual advertising by the society due to the ‘#MeToo’-uprising and Time’s Up. Although, the resistance was greater among females than by males in this study. This is potentially due to the fact that women are the ones who constantly are being objectified in advertisement today, and throughout history. The practical implications of this thesis is that it could be to use for marketing firms who are engaged in advertising which contains sexual elements to better understand how ‘#MeToo’ and Time’s up have affected consumers’ view of sexual appeal in advertising. The original value of the study is new insights regarding consumers’ view of sexual appeal in advertisement as an effect of the ‘#MeToo’-uprising and the Time’s Up movement, which not have been studied before.

Aktiv fondförvaltning: En analys av svenska aktiva aktiefonder2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

The stereotypical image of the auditor is a relevant topic to the auditor industry. The statement is based upon the struggles accounting firms has had with not being able to recruit the most suitable candidates. The aim of this study is to examine if business students image of the auditor have an effect on their intention to apply for the auditor profession. In addition, the study aim to investigate what effect the students identification to the auditor profession have on the relation between business students image of the auditor and their intention to apply of the auditor profession, since its has been shown that accounting firms are trying to create an image of the auditor which students can identify with. This resulted in the following research question: How does business students image of the auditor affect their intention to apply for the auditor profession?

In order to achieve the purpose of this study and also be able to answer the research question a quantitative study was performed by using a web based questionnaire. The Questionnaire was sent out to university attending business students across Sweden, which generated in 130 answered questionnaires.

The results indicates that the students image of the auditor with characteristics extrovert, open to new experiences and sale characteristics increases their intention to become auditor.

Additionally, students identification with the auditor profession is considered to have an negative effect on the relation between business students image of the auditor and their intention to apply of the audit profession.

Crafting next generation eco-label policy2018In: Environmental Law, Vol. 48, no 3, p. 409-452Article in journal (Other academic)
    Abstract [en]

Eco-labels present a promising policy tool in the effort to achieve sustainable consumption. Many questions remain, however, about the extent to which eco-labels can contribute to sustainability efforts and how to maximize their effectiveness. This Article deploys research from evolutionary psychology, behavioral law and economics, and norm theory to offer specific insights for the design and implementation of eco-labels to enhance their influence on sustainable consumer choice. Notably, this research suggests possibilities for ecolabels to shape or expand consumer preferences for green goods, and thereby enhance eco-label influence on consumer behavior by extending it beyond eco-minded consumers. We suggest that public exposure of the label (so that people see it) and the exposure of the purchasing behavior (so that other people can see that you have bought the product) are key elements to the success of eco-labels—the social context around product purchasing may be as important as the ecolabel itself. We recommend that behavioral insights be used to improve eco-labeling as traditionally understood by incorporating knowledge about behavioral tendencies into label design so as to allow for more accurate matching of consumers’ preexisting environmental preferences to eco-labeled goods, and develop next-generation ecolabeling policy with the potential to significantly expand the market for eco-labeled goods. Specifically, 1) Eco-labels could be purposefully designed and implemented to attract consumers motivated by social norms; 2) Eco-labels could appeal to a wider range of abstract norm alternate more broadly or locally accepted and strong abstract that are stronger and/or more broadly accepted or locally-salient; and 3) Ecolabels could highlight private, near and near-term benefits.

Kommunikation, dialog och responser i familjer med soldater i internationell militär insats2018Report (Other academic)
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [sv]

Attenuation of pharmaceutical substances: phytoremediation using constructed wetlands2018In: 13th Society of wetland scientists (SWS) Europe chapter meeting: management of wetland ecosystem services: issues, challenges and solutions, 2018, p. 19-22Conference paper (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Introduction: Currently, wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) do not efficiently remove pharmaceutical substances (PS). Thus, such substances are now frequently found in aquatic ecosystems worldwide. Also, concentrations of some PS in treated effluents exceed Environmental Quality Standards proposed by EU legislation. One resource-efficient option for increasing PS removal in WWTP effluents is to use constructed wetlands (CWs) as an attenuation step (Breitholtz et al. 2012; Li et al. 2014). However, very little research has been done on how to maximize the PS attenuation capacity of CWs. Therefore, a project with the aim to investigate reduction of different pharmaceutical substances in CWs with different vegetation compositions and water depths, was performed at the Experimental Wetland Area (EVA) located 20 km north of Halmstad, Sweden.

The perception on auditors’ involvement in tax evasion arrangements2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 180 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

For most, offshore company setups in countries such as Panama or Ireland are tied to thoughts of illegal activities leading to tax evasion. Although in many cases these preconceptions seem to be in order, in general we seem to miss a key point in reasoning of how and why these activities are possible. The conclusions this study provides are based on material derived from qualitative interviews conducted in Sweden and are used to argue against existing research findings which point the auditor as a key player in tax evasion arrangements and a reason of tax evasion existence. In addition, we argue that issues of tax evasion are of complex nature and therefore no individual profession can be pointed to as a scapegoat, instead additional research needs be done in order to map and understand the processes that are involved in setting up a tax evasion arrangement. Furthermore, the material gathered by this research suggests that a better understanding of tax evasion arrangements might form the ground for an international collaboration such as effective common regulation against tax evasion. The interviews which this study is based upon are conducted on auditor stakeholders who have an understanding in taxation issues and who work near auditors and therefore have an adequate understanding of the auditor profession.

Att avancera i yrkeslivet: En kvalitativ studie om kvinnliga revisorers karriärutveckling i relation till mentorskap och sociala nätverk2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The problem for women to reach organizational top positions has been a topic of debate for a long time in Sweden. According to previous studies the Swedish auditing industry is seen as male-dominated where masculinity is a part of the structure. Nowadays statistics shows that there is an even gender distribution in the Swedish auditing profession. Although, previous studies show that women in the auditing industry tend to dominate positions at the bottom of the hierarchy and men tend to dominate positions at the top of the hierarchy. The purpose of this study is to understand the importance of mentoring and social network that female auditors have.

This study has been conducted through a qualitative method with an abductive approach which contributes to a hermeneutic interpretation. This increases the understanding of the examined area. A set of theories and concepts lies as a basis for the analytical area of the empirical material that has been collected through semi structured interviews.

The conclusion of this study is that mentoring, and a social network are two distinguished factors which have a positive effect on female career advancement. Mentoring is a knowledge source that transfers knowledge from one individual to another. A social network is a mutual source which transfers knowledge among different individuals. Mentoring and social networks are factors that contribute female auditors getting an increase in competence and experience which leads to career advancement.

Naturens vandringshinder är kulturens dammar: Kulturmiljöernas betydelse vid restaurering av vattendrag med exempel från Hallstahammars kommun, Västmanlands län2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This essay is focusing on Kolbäcksåns lower part in Hallstahammar municipality, Västmanlands county in Sweden, aiming on how cultural heritage and it’s importance is treated when changes in the landscape is about to be done. Many of the historic free rivers has due to dams been divided, and the water has gone from rapid to still. If changes is about to be done to acchive approved ecological status, the risk on damaging the cultural heritage sites is palpable. Data, that’s been analyzed, has been collected through interviews with respondents from five instances in Västmanlands county. The Majority of the answers analysed reveals that a cultural heritage site is definied by the affect made by humans, that there is a historical connection and that the site is seen as a unit in the landscape. A cultural heritage site is affected whilst a natural environment site can be both affected and non-affected. When landscape changes that affects cultural heritage sites is performed, it reveals that different interests are colliding and the importance of an early collaboration between interests is performed. The thematic analyze of the answers from the interviews revealed several potential indications on conflicts and potential solutions.

    Abstract [en]

The aim, in this qualitative semi- structured interview study, is to analyze whatmodalities a primary s chool teacher in a multicultural school context stresses when assessing her third grade students’ meaning making in their multimodaltext productions. The study has a socio-cultural perspect ive and the theoreticalpoints and analysis tools are based in the socio semiotic multimodal theories, and in the multiliteracies research. The results show that the teacher on theone hand mainly focuses o n the semiotic resources, image, color and writing, and to some ext ent squares, symbols and speech bubbles in student petitions, but on the other hand her statements points out the complexity of the task formulation gives rise. It proves to be problematic for the teacher to allow stu-dents to freely interpret and independently design their task where she at thesame time intends to make an overall assessment o f how the content is pre-sented. In practice, the teacher more often are focused on assessing abilities that show how thoroughly and carefully the students are documenting thandeveloping the knowledge. It points to the difficulty of reconciling assessment requirements in the context of a multimodal text production.

    Abstract [en]

The aim of this study is to examine what students in grade 3, half of them multilingual, stress as important in multimodal text production while performing a task that isgoing to be assessed by their teacher. Sociosemiotic multimodal theories, and researchon multiliteracies, form the theoretical basis for the study. The empirical data consistsof fifteen individual interviews with the students. Through the interviews theirmultimodal text production appears to be complex. Also it becomes clear that images, rather than written text, play an important role for conveying messages in theirtexts. Furthermore, the interviews show that the students find it difficult to verbalizethoughts on qualities in their text productions. To sum up, the study stresses the riskfor discrepancy between what students achieve, by the use of several resources, andthe teachers’ notions of the students´ achievements. Additionally, the study highlightsthe role of task formulation and the need for competence when it comes to assessmentof multimodal texts.

Jämförelse av två enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays: mätning av diabetesspecifika autoantikroppar i en adult population2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Type- 1 diabetes (T1D) is an autoimmune disease with insulin deficiency caused by degradation of insulin- producing betacells in pancreas. Four different autoantibodies that target beta- cell specific antigenes have been identified: insulinautoantibodies (IAA), glutamic acid decarboxylase antibodies (GADA), islet antigen2-antibodies (IA-2A) and antibodies against zinktransporter 8 (ZnT8A). In this study, a comparison between 2screen islet cell autoantibody ELISA-kit (RSR, Cardiff, UK) coated with GAD65/IA-2 and 3screen islet cell autoantibody ELISA- kit (RSR, Cardiff, UK) coated with GAD65/IA-2/ZnT8, was performed to investigate whether results from these two kits provide comparable sensitivity and specificity in an adult population of new onset patients with T1D and healthy adults. RSR 2screen obtained 1 % higher specificity (98 %) in comparison to RSR 3screen (97 %) on the same sensitivity (92 %) and is recommended primarily for screening of autoantibodies in a population of adult patients at increased risk for T1D and healthy adults blood donors.

Väsentlighet: vilka kvalitativa faktorer påverkar revisorns bedömning?2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Materiality is an important cornerstone of the auditor's assessment that governs how extensive an audit should be and which direction the audit should go. The purpose of this paper is to investigate which qualitative factors are considered to have an impact on the auditor's materiality assessment. Qualitative factors such as focus the auditor's experience, audit firm, the audit client's company-specific character and the auditor-client relationship.

A quantitative method with a deductive approach has been used where a model was designed to illustrate how materiality assessment is influenced by the qualitative factors. The model has been designed based on previous scientific articles dealing with materiality. In addition, empirical evidence has been collected through a survey sent to all authorized auditors in Sweden, of which 154 respondents gave complete answers.

The results shows differences in the level of materiality are determined depending on the auditor’s experience and whether the auditor worked at one of the larger agencies. There were also differences when considering positive and negative factors related to whether the client was listed or not, active in a risky or stable industry, and the auditor’s consideration to  whether they were working with a new client. Auditors tend to react more strongly to negative factors. With a better understanding of which factors affect the auditor's assessment, we propose future studies on the client relationship and its impact on materiality judgement, as this area gave a significant difference, but has been not explored that much in earlier research.

    Abstract [en]

To work sustainably today is of great need at various levels of society, especially at local level. Municipalities work with the economic-, environmental- and social dimensions of sustainability in order to achieve sustainable urban development. Since urban development aims at creating good living standards for city residents, it is important that residents are involved in the sustainability work executed by municipalities. An important part of sustainability is to create effective interactions among the municipality’s stakeholders that create the conditions for knowledge sharing and integration, leading to a better society. Furthermore, municipalities need to integrate people with varying ethical, religious and socio-economic backgrounds in the sustainable city. The purpose of the study is to investigate the complexity of engaging stakeholders in the municipal sustainability work with urban development.

Since the study aims at giving a detailed description of the study problem area, a descriptive research strategy was chosen. The study is based on an abductive approach and the research method is qualitative. Empirical data has been gathered through semi-structured interviews with five respondents from two municipalities and through content analysis of information disclosed in municipal websites and annual reports.

The study’s conclusions are that cooperation between municipalities and their stakeholders is necessary to develop a sustainable city. The results also indicate that the evaluation of the social aspect of sustainability is an important component that still needs to be developed. Measuring social sustainability is a condition to achieve impactful results with sustainability work. Lastly, the study clearly shows that municipalities’ communication with residents needs to be constantly developed based on the needs of residents to facilitate an effective information exchange.

    Abstract [en]

Cash is a declining trend as a means of payment in society. The banking sector has also been affected by the decline of the accounts as more and more banks are dismantling their cash management. This affects the bank customers who no longer have the same access to cash. Customer satisfaction is a well-researched subject, but previous research hasn’t focused on the impact banks’ cash management has on customer satisfaction. That’s what this study examines through the purpose of clarifying the impact of banks’ different degree of cash management on customer satisfaction as well as age, gender, relationship time and personal contact´s impact on the relationship.

The study’s execution complies with the positivistic research philosophy, deductive approach and quantitative method. The empirical material the study was based on was collected through two internet surveys, where one addressed the banks and one the bank customers. In total, 8 survey responses from the banks and 106 from the customers were used for the study’s outcome.

Current research shows that age, gender, relationship time and personal contact affect the customer satisfaction at banks. Therefore, the impact of the four variables, along with the banks’ degree of cash management, was examined. The result shows that banks’ cash management affects customer satisfaction through the example that a lower degree of cash management results in lower customer satisfaction. In addition, the relationship is also dependent on age, since an elderly customer is less satisfied if the bank’s cash management is being dismantled.

The result of the study highlights a current topic and should be considered from the bank’s point of view when a decision regarding cash management is taken. Therefore, in a society where more and more banks are reducing their cash management, the essay’s result is an important parameter in the development.

    Abstract [en]

The number of certified auditors is not expected to meet the future demand of them, which means that the need for certified auditors will increase. Today the regulated certification time amounts to eight years, while the average certification time is ten years, which can be experienced as a long and complex process. We want to investigate how organizations can act in order to reduce the average certification time, by studying the practical certification time, and therefore make the profession more attractive. Hence, the purpose of the study is to explain what organizational factors affect the auditor’s practical certification time.

The study has a quantitative approach and through a deductive approach, hypotheses have been developed. A survey was conducted on certified auditors distributed at audit firms around Sweden to test the hypotheses. The organizational factors studied in the study are mentorship, firm specific education and the management method up-or-out. In addition to the organizational factors, there may be factors that affect the certification time. Therefore, the impact of additional factors was also tested. These factors were gender, age, firm at certification, number of written certification tests, previous work experience, college/university, degree level and leave of absence.

The study did not resulted in any significant relationship between the auditor’s practical certification time and the independent variables that were included in the study. Therefore, the conclusion of the study is that audit firms cannot be expected to have a big impact on the auditor’s practical certification time. Since the study contains deficits and no significant relationship could be demonstrated, there is need and opportunity for further research on the field of research.
